Reel 2 Real

$20.00

Type: Archival Photo Print*
Size: 12 inches by 12 inches (30.48cm x 30.48cm)
Material: E-Surface

An offshoot of Les Volontaires, the group known only as Recording Artist was rumored to use AI-controlled sequencers pilfered from the creation of Hundreds & Thousands to compose Reel 2 Real an ode to the very artificial intelligence they stole. A debate has raged for centuries of whether the creation of articial beats can in fact be credited to the artist, especially when they did not build it initially. When taken from a purely aural standpoint, Reel 2 Real stands not only the test of time but up to the biggest in the biz. Borrowing elements from Thirst Receptors, Berenices Brew, Volcan, and Prickley Pete, the software was able to synthesize a unique sound that questioned its very influences. Adding to this was the naturally “digital” sound achieved by recording onto a handheld reel-to-reel tape deck that had been poorly reconstructed. If it sounds too much like a dial-in communications scrambler, then you’d be right! A brief phase, dubbed “Scramble Comm,” became popular until Recording Artist was arrested for theft. The royalties made from their only album Reel 2 Real are sitting in a trust fund, waiting to be claimed by an advantageous Audionaut.

*All prints are made to order and shipped directly to you! This is not a real vinyl album.
