In the 4090s, there was an explosion of archaeological discoveries that not only stunned the Universe but also inspired further investigation into the lost history of the Cosmos, revealing the towering giants of prehistory and beyond. Part of this movement was sparked by the discovery of the fabled Lost City of Atlantis. While most historians assumed it had been located in the oceans of Earth (the Milky Way Galaxy), its excavation actually began in the frozen methane lakes of Neptune (many millennia after the initial peace-keeping mission that yielded Nectarines on Neptune). Sometime before the early 1500s BCE, members of the island chain of Atlas sought refuge in a newly discovered patch of land south of their oceanside home, seeking religious peace (Atlas was known for its less-than-progressive views and laws); for the unwanted creatures' god was not the god of their fellow Neptunians. They dubbed their undeveloped land "Atlantis" in a bit of a hubristic dig at Atlas and began rebuilding their civilization. At the center? An eight-foot-tall, obsidian monolith with an inlaid plate of broken glass near its peak. When spoken to, the monolith would display cryptic messages such as DIR, CD, DEL, and LET. While the Atlanteans did not understand the directives' meaning, they nonetheless worshipped the strange device, hoping it would lead them to freedom. The Atlassians, at the time, believed in multiple gods from sky to sea. The Atlanteans continued to maintain their belief in this device affectionately known as Hypaco and raised an army to protect it. Worried that the growing resistance of Atlantis would offset Atlas and threaten its trade and waterways, they attacked the island with oil and flame, scorching the ground until nothing would ever grow again. Angered by the slaughter, Hypaco initiated a self-destruct sequence and unleashed a massive warhead that swallowed Atlantis and the Atlassian warriors, who remained in occupation mode. Into the Neptunian sea it sank, burying the evidence that the proud Atlanteans had ever existed, save for the first-hand accounts of the explosion from the coast, where a mushroom cloud reached beyond the stars. In 4098, Med Evil was glued to her infotainment screen, watching carefully as that same Neptunian water was drained of its now methane-plagued liquid and the preserved circuits of Hypaco were uncovered. Herself an obsessive collector of ancient history (her penchant for Earth's Greek period was well documented), the reveal of the intact screen and the solitary message burned into the glass, "LOVE," ignited a firestorm within Med Evil's creativity. The legends were true, and she intended to help preserve the Atlanteans' plight. Three weeks later, she had wrapped and delivered God From The Machine, a retelling of the legend of Hypaco and an ode to Neptunian and Atlantean culture. Featuring her distinct style of hissing cymbals and tribal bass, there are moments of grace and hope, soon slashed to bits by dizzying, dystopian ballads that relive the assault on Atlantis and the melodic explosion that erased it from history. The album's closing track, A Bursting Asunder, relishes the moment, growing louder and louder until... it is no more. Hypaco itself was finally revealed to be a missing onboard computer built by the Hyeuris Pammod Algorithmic Company, generally abbreviated as HPACo, and lost during a routine shipping route near Neptune's orbit. As it was wont to do, it self-destructed when it detected its "crew" had perished, preventing others from stealing its technology. With the album's profits totaling in the hundreds of trillions, Med Evil became the sole donor to the Intergalactic Atlantean Preservation Museum (IAPM), collecting specimens and artifacts to ensure that the story of Atlantis was not written by the victors. The museum still stands today, thanks to the residual profits from the album, and it serves, again, still to this day, as a beacon for those who seek a better world for themselves and future generations.
