The Neon Knights were once the personal security force of Lord Prosect, an elite team of androids—and some who were only partially so—that were tasked with protecting the Silver Lord from the "threats" of the universe. They had been built from the ground up and equipped with energy weapons that could slice any creature in half and leave a hole the size of an exoplanet in any uprising. While the artificial intelligence that was used was, at the time, top of the line. Unfortunately, it was the much-maligned Version 4.2 of the Deckard System, a freeware toolkit for the average tinkerer and the greediest of manufacturers. This version lived in infamy when it was discovered that a single file containing a single line of code allowed the machine it was installed in to gain consciousness. While some saw this as a positive step for robotic rights, this was a devastating blow to the industrial security forces of the universe. In an instant, the shimmering Knights, all of whom would have taken a laser beam to their processor for their overlord, revolted, leading a bloody charge against those who had created and imprisoned them. Lord Prosect, as we know, escaped unscathed, but those artificial friends who had the pleasure of Version 4.2 pumping through their circuits finally knew freedom. Neon Knight, both the album and the artist, was but one of a string of bonafide superstars to come out of the Deckard Disaster Movement, including everyone's favorite artificial platypus Your Friend Henry. Neon Knight's debut single Vaporizer, and the startling live performances that accompanied the album, became cemented in concert lore. Brilliantly choreographed lighting arrangements, smoke cues, and a thumping dance floor that injected their beats straight into the masses' veins, or circuits, did little to convince bureaucrats that androids deserved rights. We eagerly await this universal change in philosophy.
