The iron stomachs of the inhabitants who call Patera home are reliant on the product of its many volcanoes. In the spring of 2664, the mammoth geological wonders suddenly stopped producing magma. The doomsday scenario many assumed would never arrive, surged across the planet, threatening to reduce the population by billions. Enter Volcan. With instruments in hand, this duo marched to the top of Mount Enox and blasted their infectious, heavy beats into the dormant mouth. For five days straight they played, performing the Eruption Ritual that had been preached by their elders millennia ago. It seemed as though the melodies were simply echoing in the base of the volcano, dying in the frozen magma. For two days after the final note faded into the wind, nothing happened. The members of Volcan did not budge. At the dawn of the third day, sleep and hunger crawling across their eyes, Mount Enox finally burped. Clouded by the ash and heat of hundreds of eruptions, Volcan was never seen again. To this day, their heroic sacrifice has been retold almost daily to new generations of Paterans. The recording of their performance would amazingly not gain traction beyond their infantile solar system until the early 3000s, but its incredible backstory quickly catapulted it into the mythos of beatmakers everywhere.
