Doctor Melville

Original Release Date: 03/06/3672

Songs for Unsure Whales was a qualified hit. But after so many space whales were cured of their boredom on long interstellar hauling trips, what was renowned whaleontologist Doctor Melville to do? Write more tasty beats? Yes, dear Audionauts, that is exactly my thought. But instead of being commissioned by the new president of the Intergalactic Union of Space Trucking (IUST), he set out to cure the loneliness of all whales. For, you see, certain whales make their own music, sharing their own tasty beats with each other using a complicated system of synthesizers and drums, but others have no musical talent. Others simply roam their oceans, wondering what it would be like to connect with like-minded mammals. Songs For Lonely Whales, released four years later, filled this gap by providing the aforementioned novices with simple melodies to practice their own musicality. So successful were these instructional vinyl that sales halted completely. Every single whale in the universe had purchased a copy, and there was no turning back. The album itself consisted of eight tracks of completed music, original compositions by Doctor Melville, interspersed with lessons that instructed listeners how to find the whale inside them and let it out in a bellow so loud that the universe had to take notice. Brave creatures like Doctor Melville helped define a generation of whale songs and inspired the seas to find their own rhythm, much to our delight!
