Devol

Original Release Date: 10/09/6666 (AM 1666)

While it gives us no pleasure to write this, it is absolutely true. For in each of us exists an electrical field, a pretty delicious field, that, when we breathe, our last mortal moment, is released into the Universe, replenishing the elements that are inevitably inside all of us. Within these elements are also the memories of the deceased, and their discharge responsible for our own memories of their once lively selves. If the energy is lost, then all traces of them (and our own memories of them) disappear forever. This electrical field, can and will be devoured by the nearest soul-stealing imp, given the chance. These creatures, known as Gorias, are mostly devious, insatiable mutts that wreak havoc on the most innocent of souls. Devol, one such beast, was the exception to the rule. Unwilling to keep the minerals of the universe for herself, she lashed out at fellow Gorias, fighting back their nasty threats and vicious swipes to protect the memories of loved ones, past and future. To do this, she developed a series of hypnotic beats that would either lull or disperse a Goria, should they show up at your doorstep. The music, as you might expect, affected her general well-being, but it was a risk she was willing to take. Her first album, A Beat A Day Keeps The Goria Away was a smashing success and responsible for more than a billion lives saved. Her follow-up Powered By Soul was a continuation of the theme, giving creatures some additional beats to listen to (and not get burnt out on the originals). This new crop was even more powerful; even the threat of the album cover (which depicted the Goria's detachable third eye, which helped to locate souls) was enough to drive away the imps. To this day, you can still find traces of the artwork and echoes of the melodies within, from the alleyways of Skudderville to the mansions of Prestonia.
