Ocean King

Squidword

Original Release Date: 04/22/2535

Whether he crawled onto the sand, as legend has it, or hustled his way through the dark depths, Neptunian artist Squidword proved, on his third album, that he was the once and future Ocean King, especially after the migration caused by longtime rival Blobby Fisher. As is tradition in music, the integration of a new style ultimately leads to copycats. The rivalry between the two invertebrates was fueled mainly by claims of theft, though completely manufactured by their respective PR teams. At its height, fans were clashing both above and below the water, using their unbridled enthusiasm to cause massive aural destruction that threatened to destroy several radio stations that refused to play one artist over the other. It reached such a fever pitch that both Squidword and Blobby were forced to join forces to calm the masses. As fate would have it, they shared the same music teacher, Rick Star, who encouraged them to collaborate on what would become one of the most unexpected and successful mashups in history: Psychro/Cepha.
