Original Release Date: 06/30/4666

Not all rituals intend to harm (see: Eruption Ritual), but the artifact known only as Lunar Sacrifice puzzled historians and musicologists for millennia. Many a needle was broken trying to play the ancient enchantments that had been pressed into the blood-red wax, but not a single note could be heard. It was as if the album would only play at a certain time, for a certain being. A thousand years later, in 4666, while being transported across the oceanic planet Dro-ID 13, the ship’s captain, after imbibing a bit too much of the local brew, set the album upon his platter and pressed the needle to the wax. What awakened was more than just music. The very seas boiled, and the monstrous tentacles of a long-dead deity rushed to the surface. Instead of ensnaring the sailing vessel, the tendrils launched into the atmosphere and seized the planet’s tiny moon, shifting its orbit permanently. What remained of the ocean seemingly vanished into the center of the exoplanet, revealing the imprisoned torso of the great being. Trapped for centuries, or so it said, the creature had recorded the ritual music to help free itself in order to restore the flora and fauna of its home. With the thwump of its appendages, life began to bloom, and balance was restored, ultimately freeing the prisoner. As for the captain, he received a commendation and a place to retire to, should he ever consider giving up the lonely life at sea. Subsequently, to prevent this from ever happening again, the deity known as Lunar commissioned the Intergalactic Beets Project to produce playable versions of the ritualistic album and distribute them to as many galaxies as possible.
