The Neptunian Welcome Committee (NWC)

Original Release Date: 01/29/2084

Nectarines On Neptune was all that remained of the crew of the Neptunian Peace Corp. Their mission to establish contact with the final planet of Milky Way Galaxy Solar System 62586, was indeed successful, but due to limited technology, there would be no return and no reinforcements for some time. The Neptunian Welcome Committee (NWC) gifted the crew a vinyl pressing of a live concert of mellow tunes that they had performed to make their transition much easier. As the Peace Corp. members slowly passed on in their later years, it became clear their influence upon the planet through farming techniques, water desalination, and even television. Their bodies, buried in the hillsides under banners of thanks, were decomposing and releasing never-before-seen toxins into the core of Neptune. The celestial body, so in tune with its inhabitants, began to cry out in pain, the poison coursing through its channels and warping crops and sullying massive bodies of water. It heaved and sighed, unable to retain its youthful luster. And, so too did the Neptunians weep, for they had begun their final journey, unable to request help as rescue would take years to arrive. Farewell was recorded as a final message of peace by Neptune itself, with the help of the recording wizards on the Neptunian Welcome Committee. It is a slow, devastating beat that amplifies the struggles of the planet. But, the hope and silver lining within its tempo are love and peace. It has been an honor to serve the Neptunians, and they had treated the planet well, but it was time to move on, to redistribute the molecules and elements back into the Universe so that they may be reborn. Two days after recording Farewell, Neptune breathed its last, and so did its people. When the recording was found several millennia later, it was too late, but their contribution to the world of music will never be forgotten. Let us close the curtain on Neptune and pray that its soul has found new life in the fantastic sounds of our void.
