Electric Shadow Puppets

Original Release Date: 06/19/4889

Electricity requires tremendous support in its creation. Heat sources, mechanical engineering, infrastructure; it's not an easy process, nor does it adhere itself to a particularly thankful sector of individuals who keep the lights on. There was no such need for Electric Shadow Puppets and their touring caravan of delights. Lead keyboardist Olta was born with quite the defect: breathing in large quantities of air could create an electrical charge as powerful as any transformer in the galaxy. The regulation was burdensome; he had to learn the hard way how much to contain, release, and conserve to keep not only his organs intact but the ones of those around him. This unlimited power source means that Electric Shadow Puppets could perform anywhere, a feat that most artists had not accomplished. The trio would hop from star system to star system, pedaling their puppet show entitled War of the Currents which told the tale of a young factory worker tethered to the wall, believing that electricity powered him and that he could never see the outside world. One day, he trips and unplugs himself, much to his horror. But nothing happens; he does not falter or fade; he simply is. With this newfound freedom, he leads a revolt against his fellow factory workers until they take over the facility and bring much-needed relief to his small town. Though the play is silent, the music that drove it formed the basis (with a few additions) for Puppets' debut. An eclectic and electric mix of synth and industrial, the keyboard is what shines here, all powered by Olta's unbelievable gift. Unshackled themselves from traditional venues, they still tour to this very day, and while the show and the message haven't changed, it's still just as relevant and just as tasty.
