The Rainbow Goblins

Original Release Date: 08/15/2061

Despite the failure of their 2049 album Bullet Train, The Rainbow Goblins had a string of late-career hits in A Thousand Years Of Rain and Quest For Ice & Glory, which kept the lights on. Members Bluu, Grene, Yelo, and Perpol, after nearly 15 years on the road, sought refuge from the road and returned to their home, Castle Lumen, on the distant crag-infested moon of Coloro. Messages of their return went unanswered and, in the shadow of the crumbling spire, they realized what had transpired in their absence. The Great King Rat, born Fentrux Rede, had slain their crew of loyal servants and turned Castle Lumen into a playground of black death. What had been kept secret from fans, was that The Rainbow Goblins did not descend from ancient artists, but powerful warriors skilled in blacksmithing, archery, and hand-to-hand combat. Sacrificing their instruments, they crafted armor and weaponry, vowing to take back what was rightfully theirs. Under the banner of a raging thunderstorm, The Rainbow Goblins stormed their own castle and fought their way through The Great King Rat's army of undead and mutated scoundrels. Their knowledge of the maze-like footprint of Castle Lumen allowed the quartet to get the drop on Fentrux, but not without a devastating loss. Perpol, in an act of bravery, bore the brunt of a wave of arrows, giving the rest enough time to engage a stream of hot oil and fire which engulfed the false King. Victory had been achieved, but the price was non-negotiable. With their home in ruins, the walls buckling around them, The Rainbow Goblins were forced to abandon Castle Lumen, and the body of their drummer, as it became just another pimple on the craggy landscape. Castle Mania, released only a year after the incident, was their final album, but their most experimental, discarding their normally easy-flowing, jazz-infused electronic dreams for more manic, battle-worthy cries. The album, which sold over 14 trillion copies, sparked a revival among their fans and ensured that the Rainbow Goblin could fade off into the night with colorful fury. A farewell their ancestors would have been proud of.
